In addition to the need to increase funds in the St. George's College Endowment Fund, there are many other needs.

Student Welfare

Our student welfare projects require funding.  Currently 60 of our most needy students are provided with a cooked lunch.  For some this is the only cooked meal for the day and for others it is the only meal for the day.  The continuity of the programme is in question as a result of financial constraints.  Regular contributions to this programme are welcome as the programme needs to be continued and expanded to include more students and a breakfast programme.

Mentorship

Many Jamaican youth lack the guidance of a positive adult male to teach them values and morals.  Please contact us at principal@stgc.org if you are interested in mentoring a young man or a class.

Scholarships

For approximately USD$1000 we can provide for all a students needs for a school year including fees, uniforms, lunch, transportation, books etc.  Many are in need.

Campus Ministry

St. George's leads the way in its focus on the spirituality development of its students through retreats, days of recollection and ministry.  Retreats have a tremendous impact on the lives of our students but venues are expensive.  Donations towards the cost of retreats are welcome.

All sixth form students and some fifth form students participate in retreats which are subsidized by the College.  First to fourth form students have days of recollection.  Each class is also asked to select a charity, raise funds for the charity and visit once per term.

Sports

Our students have been performing very well in sports this year.  You would have noted our victories in the Manning Cup, Olivier Shield, Jonathan Hibbert Memorial Basketball competition and All Island U19 Basketball championship.

Participation in sports is costly.  Students are provided with equipment, gears, meals, vitamins etc.  Please contribute to your favourite sport.

Computers

Technology changes fast and schools find it difficult to keep up.  Help us by donating computers and printers for our labs.  While we welcome and accept laptops, desk tops are more practical for our environment.  We also appreciate refurbished computers but would appreciate new ones even more given the rate of change of the technology.

Approximately 60 computers are needed.

Auditorium Chairs

Auditorium chairs cost approximately J$800 each.  We are in need of approximately 500 chairs.

Security

Security cameras in main areas will help to keep our students safe.  They would also assist with monitoring students and maintaining discipline.  An estimated cost of a suitable system is J$2M.  We welcome your contribution.

Capital Development/Maintenance Projects

You would have noted the ground breaking ceremony for the Archbishop Lawrence A. Burke S.J. Centre in January 2009.  The building will house 12 rooms including a Math room, English room, computer lab, science labs, Language lab etc.  Your cash contributions are welcome.  You may also decide to donate the amount of JA$2M and have a classroom named for someone special.

Other buildings on the campus are in need of repairs.  The beautiful and historic O'Hare building is one such location.  We have had two ceiling collapses affecting six classrooms over the last two years.  Four classrooms are currently unusable.  We had planned to launch the Repair the O'Hare in 2010, using the new building as a temporary holding area for classes currently housed on the O'Hare.  However with our fifth and sixth form students out for CXC exmainations we have decided to start the repairs to the O'Hare in faith, even though we have not identified all the funds to complete the project.  Please contribute generously so that we can complete the project as soon as possible.

Lance

JA$1M is needed for the printing of the Lance this year.  You may contribute by placing an Ad or contributing cash to assist with the cost of printing.

We anticipate your kind generosity.

May God bless you as we work together in His service to develop our Jamaican youth,

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
