Danny Simpson
Daniel “Danny” Golsea Simpson was born in Kingston Jamaica, West Indies on July 12, 1940 to Beryl Palmer and Rupert Simpson. Upon graduating from St Aloysius Primary School in St Andrews, JA, Danny attended St George College where he excelled in football “soccer”, cricket and briefly dabble in track and field. While at St George College, Danny forged lifetime friendships with some outstanding athletes and professional men of the St George’s Old Boys Association. As a member of the Division 1 St George’s Old Boys football “soccer” team, Danny traveled to Mexico and Belize to compete. Danny received an Associate Degree in Marketing & Sales from the College of Arts, Science & Technology, Kingston JA.
Danny worked at several companies in Jamaica, these included: Gypsum, Crown Life Insurance, British Life Insurance of Jamaica and Johnson and Johnson. It was while working at Johnson and Johnson where he met and later married his wife of 57 years Claudette. This union produced 2 daughters, Theresa and Antoinette. The family migrated to the United States.
Danny’s work history continued in the US, which included starting his own contract packaging company, Cen-Pak in Wildwood Florida and positions at the following companies: Ivers-Lee, Lehigh Packaging, Stranahan Foil Company, Allied Envelope Company, Eddy’s Ice Cream and Ferrero USA. It was at Ferrero USA as a Shift Production Manager, where he became known to friends and family as the candy man. Danny’s home was the favorite at Halloween more so for the parents than the kids. The parents were treated to Hazelnut Rocher and Nutella products.
In addition to wife Claudette, daughters Theresa and Antoinette, Danny leaves behind a half- brother Dr. Fred Reynolds (Beverly) of Canada, brother in laws Carlton “Jackie” Guy of London, England, Lloyd Guy (Deloris) of Landover, Maryland and Leslie Guy of London England. A host of cousins, particularly: Pauline Prado of Orlando, Florida, Theresa Bromfield of Ft Lauderdale, Florida, Lloyd Harze of Las Vegas, Ingrid Young of Covington, GA, Yvonne Taylor of Baltimore MD, Michelle Young of Raleigh NC, Pat Harry of Auburndale, FL, Jennifer Simpson of Covington, GA, Ruth Simpson of Athens, GA, Rita Simpson of St Catherine, JA, Alric Naar, Trevor Simpson. The St George Old Boys Association, especially, Frankie Lewis, Skedron Smith, Michael Charlie, Harry Anderson, Lloyd Chung, Laddie Kong, Dennis Bennett. The Hing family, The Plummer family. Lifelong friends, Derrick, Art and Asha Welsh, Aston Hugh, Kim Aaron and daughter Brielle and many more. The family would like to mention their great neighbors in particular: Rosa, Alice, Tina, Al, Amy and Paul.
The family would like to thank Fr. Jim and the St Joseph Church family of Maplewood New Jersey. The excellent and compassionate staff of the Barnabas Health Home Care and Hospice, particularly, his nurses Albina and Gloria and his aid Jomo.
