St. George’s College celebrates 175 years…Inspiring the pioneers of tomorrow

For 175 years, St George’s College has stood as a beacon of excellence, forging leaders with competence, conscience, and compassion who transform the world around them.
“As we celebrate this extraordinary milestone, we are reaffirming our legacy of shaping innovators and visionaries ready to lead humanity into a brighter future,” a statement from the North Street, Kingston school said.
“To mark this momentous occasion, St George’s College is proud to launch ‘Pioneers of Tomorrow: A Knight’s Dialogue’, an inspiring lecture series designed to awaken the boundless potential in our students. This is more than a celebration – it’s a call to action for young minds to dream boldly, think creatively, and act courageously.
“Imagine standing in the footsteps of extraordinary leaders who have changed the course of history in business, science, art, entertainment, and more. Through this series, you’ll hear directly from trailblazers who were once in your shoes – people who dared to challenge the norm, broke barriers, and shaped industries. These dialogues will unlock the secrets to their success, equipping you to forge your own path and conquer your world.”
The first dialogue, scheduled for March 25, will feature Jason Sharpe, Managing Director of Café Blue, whose entrepreneurial vision continues to impact lives.
Sharp is credited for building the largest indigenous coffee shop chain and largest chocolate manufacturing company in Jamaica. He also serves on the board of Jamaica Coffee Exporters Association (JCEA) in various capacities, including chair and head of the marketing committee.
Later in the year, in September, you’ll be inspired by the wisdom of another trailblazer, a leader who embodies determination and innovation.
“At its heart, this series is about empowering you – the pioneers of tomorrow. We believe that every student – whether from St George’s or neighbouring schools like Kingston College, Convent of Mercy ‘Alpha’, Holy Trinity, and Wolmer’s Boys and Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls Schools – holds the power to change the world. By living the values of reverence for God, excellence, respect, discipline, and teamwork, you can rise above challenges and transform aspirations into reality,” the institution said.
The venue for this transformative series is the historic Abe Issa Auditorium, a space that has witnessed generations of young leaders embark on their journeys to greatness.
This project is made possible by partnerships with entities that share the mission to inspire and empower the next generation.
“Young leaders, the world is calling you. You are the architects of the future, the voices of change, the dreamers who will shape tomorrow. This is your moment to learn, grow, and lead. The road to success begins here, and the first step is showing up. Together, let’s redefine what’s possible,” St George’s administrators declared.
“The stage is set. The time is now. Will you rise to the challenge?”
