Shevon ‘Scarro’ Stewart
The word is out that former St. George’s College standout player Shevon ‘Scarro’ Stewart has returned to Jamaica and is playing for the Waterhouse Premiere League team.
‘Scarro’, an attacking midfielder is known for his close playing skills, accurate shooting and penetrating passing. He had two outstanding seasons 2014 and 2015 for the Light Blues. He was featured on TVJ Sport recently. See attached video.
In 2014, he was part of our Walker Cup Championship team. 2015 was an outstanding season for Stewart when he captained the STGC team to win the Flow Cup. He and fellow midfielder Alex Marshall formed a formidable strike force that season for the Knights.
After Sixth Form, Shevon left for on scholarship to Daytona State College in the United States. He had the option of going straight into professional football but decided to play college football and pursue a business degree. He later transferred to the University of Cincinatti and had two great seasons playing for their men’s football team. He has since finished his studies and now holds a BSc in International Business.
Since returning to Jamaica, he has signed up with Waterhouse coached by Marcel Gayle, who also coached Stewart at St. George’s.
Shevon, who is from a very humble background and hails from the community of Standpipe in Liguanea is an inspiration to our youngsters. He shows that with hard work and good use of opportunities, one can progress.
Wishing you continued success with your professional football career, Scarro!
