Our ‘Kids’
A couple of proud papas of the Class of 1968 shared news of their beautiful daughters with me recently.
Magistrate Monise Alexis Brown, daughter of 1968 graduate. Joseph ‘Fuzzy’ Stephenson was appointed to the Charles County Circuit Court, Annapolis, MD by Governor Larry Hogan last month.
Monise has been a family law magistrate for the past eight years. Prior to her appointment as a magistrate, she served as the executive director of the Maryland Professional Center, Inc., which organizes mandatory courses and programs for state lawyers. She also served as a prosecutor in Charles County, representing the state in paternity establishment and child support cases. Previously, Magistrate Brown worked in private practice for four years, concentrating on family law and the planning and administration of the estate and trust matters. She received her B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
Nyika Strickland is daughter of 1968 graduate, Neville Prendergast.
Nyika is an intellectual property partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Nyika’s practice focuses primarily on complex patent litigation matters. In her practice, she applies her engineering background to patent infringement analysis, litigation and counseling. She has represented companies in patent litigation matters encompassing a wide range of technologies, including: computer processors; cellular technology; wireless video transmission; semiconductor devices and fabrication; integrated circuit chips for wireless data, high-density storage, and networking applications; electronic ballasts; wheel alignment equipment; aviation equipment; digital imaging technology; and flash memory devices. Nyika’s experience encompasses all phases of litigation, including appeal.
