Stakeholders and Friends of St. George’s College,

Let us look ahead with hope as we embark on the 2021-2022 academic year!

Our theme for the year “Reconnect and Reignite; Onward to New Heights!” is a call to shake off the struggles of this past year and reconnect, in the virtual space initially, and in-person as time goes by, and reignite the fire of learning that may have been doused as we adjusted to virtual school.

This past year, through careful planning and effective professional development, we were able to create a solid, online platform in support of high-quality teaching and learning. Through the invaluable support of our alumni and friends, we were able to increase our bandwidth, solicit devices for students and teachers, and upgrade our Wi-Fi to support online instruction.  Our teachers and support staff were superheroes, in the face of daunting circumstances.

Though we continue online, we have confidence that our students will be able to achieve excellence by being faithfully present to online classes, and diligent in completing assigned tasks. Teachers will continue to make every effort to engage students, and stand ready to assist in extraordinary ways.

Students, take advantage of the resources that your teachers provide, attack your learning vigorously and excel! You are capable of more than you think.  We have every hope that we will soon be back together on campus. Until then, be strong. Covid19 will not last forever.

Parents, please help your children to navigate these difficult circumstances. They have suffered a trauma through the loss of their school environment, and lack of interaction with teachers and friends.    Take time to listen to them and avoid dismissing their feelings of frustration and sadness. Counter these feelings with patience and encouragement.

I encourage all stakeholders to facilitate the return to face-to-face instruction in the best interest of students, by being vaccinated for the Covid19 virus.

Have an outstanding 2021-2022 academic year!
